I've overcome that bad weekend

Well, that was a bad weekend but now Man Utd won their match last night so through to the next round of the Carling Cup - well done boys!!

Also the weekend is forgotten as I have had a new delivery of Sirdar Yarns - so delighted.

What a bad weekend

Chelsea won - yuk, Man Utd lost - yuk, and John and Edward are still in XFactor when Miss Frank were sent home. I think this really makes a mockery of what the programme is about ie Miss Frank can sing and dance whereas John and Edward can't - simples!!!

Well the clocks have gone back so now it really does have that Christmassy feel when I close the shop in the evening and it's just about dark - we're on the way!!! And now with the dark evenings what would you but craft or knit. Painting is good during the day with the most beautiful colours in the leaves on the trees but then the evening - if you're bored you could make your Christmas cards, or a nice Christmassy wall hanging to decorate your house at Christmas or Christmas stockings for your children or grandchildren If this doesn't interest you - be practical and knit yourself a hat, scarf or gloves or a nice warm jumper. Oh there's so much to do and so little time!!

Question Time

Well did you watch it on BBC last night? For those who don't know what this is all about let me briefly explain - it's a programme with invited guests consisting of politicians mostly then maybe an author or some other member/s of the community who have a lot to say. They debate various things with questions offered by the audience. Last nights guests included Nick Griffin - the BNP leader(the British Nationalist Party). Anyway there was uproar before, during and after the programme because he was an invited guest and some saw this as giving him a platform. Well, he seemed a very confused politician to me and couldn't quite get over what he believed and then he stated that he did not know why he said the things he did in the past eg in the past he said that the Holocaust was just propaganda!!!!!! he now states he doesn't know why he said that!!!!! Well I have recorded it so that I can watch it again. I must say I did feel a bit sorry for him because EVERYONE was against him (and I don't like bullying of any sort) but he did keep a smile on his face throughout the programme.

The media asked people in the "street" what they thought of this and the general feeling was that it was good to get him on there because the voters can see exactly what he was like ie he couldn't seem to get any policy over well and so really didn't do himself any favours.

Now back to the shop well the new papercrafting stock we have in is absolutley gorgeous so worth looking at and we shall use these in our classes which are now beginning to book up. If you have any suggestions please feel free to tell us.

Anybody reading this within a driving distance might like come down to visit for the day - it's a glorious day (at the time of typing) - nice walks, nice cafe/restaurants and the most well stocked craft shop in the South West with wonderful, all knowing staff who give the best service. Yet again the Postal Strike

Well they've done it - and they're on strike. Do they want people to support them? Why would they - when it could upset the economy further, even cause businesses to go under (probably quite extreme) but it's hard enough without more problems. How must people feel who now don't have jobs - a bit of a kick in the teeth I would say. How can we ever hope for World Peace when they can't even get it right for our Postal Service? Anyway my Postman is not on strike and brought my post today and will work tomorrow (if there's any post to bring) so I stamped his hand with a "Thank You" rubber stamp in appreciation.

It's Christmas again today - you've guessed it we've had another 2 deliveries of craft things - some for Christmas and some for everyday. We had an Art delivery yesterday with Golden Acrylic Paints and Mediums. I think I must be in the best business in the world 'coz it's always exciting and you get to meet people and order "stuff" and open the boxes when they arrive. I have been known to get the customers excited too! You don't get that sort of service in the big stores. Swine Flu

Are you eligible for a Swine Flu jab? I think I fall into the category that will be last on the list.I don't know whether to worry or not about that. Am I likely to get it? Have I had it and not known about it?Is this a bit of relief from the postage strike? I don't know about you but just what do we believe? and how much are they manipulating us. The other thing is that now they're saying that the rate of growth of our population is greater than it ever has been - we'll be a borough of London soon!!

Anyway back to real life - tonight Man Utd will be playing so it will definitely be an evening of knitting and footy - if I can get away from some new stock that has just come in. I think since we've started selling Sirdar Yarns it has sparked a renewed interest. One day soon I'm going to start making my Christmas cards before we sell all the stock.

Postal Strike

So the postal workers want to go on strike. I think they're lucky to have a job at the moment. Their strike will affect a lot of mail order companies who rely heavily on the postal service. I wonder if they've thought of all the repercussions - while the whole country is in the state that it is in. I can't help but think they're looking very short term at their problems. I'm sure they must have real gripes with conditions and pay etc to want to strike but at least they have a pay packet coming in whereas a lot don't and the rest of us will go on as best we can until things get better.

That aside we had Scrapbook Club last night which went well but we all felt a bit tired - actually I've nearly finished my Disney Holiday from 2005!!!! Just 2 pages to go and then the journaling and the titivating and then I can start on our other Disney holiday from 2007. For those of you who don't Scrapbook I would recommend it. I started because I had to run the club and now I absolutely love it - looking back over those old memories and having a well documented memory album to look through - it's well worth it in these dark evenings to have something to look back on and also have something nice to do.

John and Edward

How annoying is it that John and Edward are still in the XFactor and poor Ricky got sent home - Ricky has talent and John and Edward are definitely very average. I really don't know what is wrong with the British public voting them in every week because they really are not a match for the others in the competition. We're not doing them any favours keeping them in either - let them get on with their lives.

In the other extreme - WELL DONE JENSON BUTTON - World Champion at last, you deserved that. And it goes without saying - WELL DONE MAN UTD for your win at the weekend.

Got to knit like crazy today and tomorrow as I have to knit a scarf for a customer plus we have Scrapbooking Club tonight at the shop this evening so do come along if you're in the area it starts at 7pm and finishes when we're ready to finish. It costs £1 with tea and bikkies and is very entertaining(usually).

Weekend looms

Well the weekend is almost here again and the sun is still shining which will be great for the usual football.

A nothing sort of a day

Ever had a nothing sort of a day? Well today is one of those days it's mid week, the weather is nothing - not hot or cold, not windy, not rainy. There's nothing exciting being delivered today (I don't think but you never know). I suppose it can't be like Christmas Every day. Ah well I might just have to knit or I could sort out stock on our stock control but knitting sounds better!! Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting.

Health and safety

What's the matter with us - an accident is no longer just an accident, somebody has to pay. We don't have to be responsible anymore. If, for example, as I heard this morning, someone trips over a tree stump where the tree has been chopped down by the council say - this person was told to sue the council. Wouldn't it be better if that person watched where he was going and took responsibility for his own actions. I hate to see what is going on in schools due to health and safety. Again I heard that in one school the children weren't allowed to run in the playground in case they fell over. Isn't that how we learn by making mistakes? I know some "accidents" can be tragic and you'll never eradicate these but we do need a bit of balance and be prepared to accept accidents for what they are.
