Fancy a move to Australia?

3 Brits leave the UK every 3 minutes - so we're told and most go to Australia. Would you fancy that? I certainly wouldn't, living in Cornwall what more could I want? I love having the different seasons - I love Autumn and Winter and then I love Spring and Summer. I love the scenery - the coastline and the countryside. I love the way of life, the people I meet each day in the shop. I love all the football - you can't get better than our Premiership and Championship etc and then the local football (Porthleven Football Club). I love playing in the band that I play in - St Erth Concert Band (new members welcome). I love the Chapel that I go to and the people in it (Porthleven Methodist Church). Why would I want to leave this? I'm definitely not looking for a new way of life. Porthleven is the place for me!

As for the shop we're still getting more stock onto the website http://www.eCreations.co.uk particularly our new wool ie Sirdar and Katia. There's just not enough time to knit all these lovely yarns aswel. Ah well I'll just keep knitting when I get a minute here and there.

Football

For those of you who know me will know that I have a great love of football, supporting Man Utd since I lived in Manchester from the 1980's. I have also had 3 sons who were also into football and played themselves (for which I took them and watched on the sidelines). I was very proud of son no. 3 at the weekend who played extremely well for Porthleven 2nds. in only his 2nd game in men's football (only just having reached the grand age of 16).

So I DO love football. I feel incensed that we now have to pay to watch England on the internet. So we pay for our TV License then we pay for Sky then we pay for ESPN and now they want us to pay for football on the internet - WHERE WILL IT END - soon it'll be cheaper just to pay to go and watch the match live wherever it is.

You see I can do my knitting whilst watching football on the TV. (I don't always need to look at what I'm knitting 'coz I've been knitting for so long). Anyway I think paying to watch football on the internet is one step too far and will not be paying for that. What about you?

Fair Trade

I hear this morning that they would like to increase the availability of Fair Trade coffee and chocolate etc. I don't see what the problem is - if it's a good product that people will want to buy then surely in a world of "free" trade it should stand up on it's own merit where retailers, including Sainsbury's, Tesco's etc would want to stock it on their shelves, As opposed to stocking it because it is morally the right thing to do (which I think is a good way to improve the economy in those countries that need help and so improve standards of living for those living there). I have to say this is a very simple overview of a global problem. Maybe folk will buy more Fair Trade things as their contribution to helping others!

It is weekend again and so it's football again - brilliant. I can watch my son play and in 2 different teams and then watch my country as well as others in the UK. And then there's XFactor and Merlin - I love weekends!

Things are hotting up

Well Christmas is on its way, so things are hotting up. People are realising that this special time of year is looming up really quickly (is this a sign of getting old?). I have to say this is my favorite time of year from now until New Year. It seems that this year more than ever before that people want to spread the cost over a few months so are looking for gifts for Christmas already - myself included.

And then of course there's the time factor. If we start now making our cards and wall hangings and presents we'll have enough time to party when we're really in the season. What else would you do on these cold, dark evenings?

Political Conferences

It's that time of year for the political parties to have their conferences. I can't think of anything more boring than sitting for hours listening to politicians "talk" about what they think they should do with our country 'coz you know it won't make any difference and they won't come through with all their promises. And yet isn't it so important what they do for our country, particularly at the moment with the recession. Maybe if they were a bit more believable it would be worth taking more interest.

Since Labour have come into power they certainly don't seem to be on the side of the shop owner. It seems that we have very few rights but staff and customers have all the rights. Anyway this is a big issue that would take forever to discuss.

That aside we have had a Katia delivery (yarn from Spain) - gorgeous. We also have had some papercrafting things in ie the lovely "The Snowman" - Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without "The Snowman", and a lot of other "stuff" visit our online store at www.ecreations.co.uk

Tsunami's

They say that California is due to have "the big one" ie a tsunami. Apparently they have little earthquakes every day which they don't pay much attention to, and they have had big earthquakes where lives have been lost. Why live there with this hanging over you? Do you become blase and think it will never happen in my lifetime? Maybe living in Cornwall we've never had to live with anything like this being a constant possibility so the news brings it more to our attention. I think I would rather live without that kind of threat - or maybe I'm missing the point!

It's raining at the moment but maybe as in the last couple of days it will brighten up throughout the day. However this is great weather for knitting your winter jumpers, scarves, fingerless gloves etc or making your Christmas cards, or even making a nice wall hanging for Christmas using a Christmas panel. I really must start my Christmas cards!

Bungy Jump?

Ever been bungy jumping? Just been watching it on GMTV and all I can think is "NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS" Apparently a chap did a jump in Thailand but kept going straight into the water, the harness broke or something, but here in Britain we're told that we have the best health and safety policies in the world so it couldn't possibly happen. I'm not going to put that one to the test.

My mind is full of new stock today as we had another delivery of cardmaking/scrapbooking things yesterday so need to get out there today and get them into stock and on the website so must go and get started. We also have an Art Class on in the shop today so Hils will be teaching that which means the shop is literally full of stock which is covering some of our gorgeous fabrics. Isn't it great to be busy?

Creations has woken up

We at Creations have had a little nudge in that we were going along very nicely, thank you, and then suddenly - BANG - we suddenly realised we need to up our game so we have taken on some different companies with different stock and have pulled back from other suppliers as we are very aware that  these supplies are available just about anywhere (albeit very nice). Due to all this new stock we have quite a bit on sale to make room on the Cardmaking/Scrapbooking side.

Also on the knitting front which is a very popular craft at the moment, we have increased our range by taking in more Katia (great yarn and different patterns) - and now SIRDAR so all in all its an exciting time at Creations.

Now, back on the school shoes issue - after writing a note to school to say I don't give permission for son no.3 to wear a pair of shoes that they would supply. The teacher read the note and said no more. The shoes will arrive this week (hopefully).

What do you think of the XFactor choices. I disagree with all 3 judges' choices so felt quite cross that they can't see what the rest of us see. Only time will tell.

Well must go and face another busy day.

School shoes

My son came home from school yesterday and said that his shoes are not acceptable as school shoes so we went straight into Grip, Helston (great shop) to buy a new pair. Unfortunately they did not have his size so we've ordered a pair which will be in on Tues/Wed. I have also written a letter to school to tell them the tale and finished off with "I do not give permission for him to wear a pair that they supply". I think this is disgusting - who else has been wearing those shoes? Would you let your child wear shoes that other kids have been wearing? So we shall see what happens today, maybe I'll get a phone call!!

RATS, SIRDAR DIDN'T ARRIVE YESTERDAY. Oh well, I can get excited today now and then it's the weekend for football, football, football - same said son is playing in his debut match for Porthleven Seconds at Newquay and then on Sunday he's playing for Wendron  Under 16's at guess where?  yep, Newquay. AND Man Utd have Sunderland and then of course there's XFACTOR. What more could you ask for? I'll get a lot of knitting done I think.

October is here

Well October is here and so are the cool mornings but it does really warm up during the day (the sun is out as I type)- great for an autumn break if your thinking of having some time away.

I'm a thrilled lady today MANCHESTER UNITED won again last night - go REDS. I didn't get to watch it 'coz we were at Country Skittles which was a brilliant night out with lovely food.

Well today is going to be exciting we should get our Sirdar delivery - yet more yarn. It's the simple things that excite me, just like Christmas every day. Does that mean I lead a really simple life? I hope so. Now where am I going to put this yarn? Just move things around a bit and space appears as if by magic!! Actually I haven't got our new papers and cards on the website yet so I'm going to be a busy girl (again) today. There is so much lovely "stuff" out there - I WANT TI HAVE IT ALL!! Anyway back to reality I'll try to own a bit. Must go now and do a bit of ironing before I open the shop. Bye xxx
